The little things

The last few weeks have been non-stop craziness for me and I've barely had time to stop and catch my breath.  I don't mind being busy, in fact I rather enjoy it when the adrenaline is pumping but this week my list of things to do has been getting longer and longer with few things getting ticked off.

When I find myself in that situation, to stop myself feeling overwhelmed, I try to notice the little things that make me happy.  I take a moment to look out the window at work and see the fields covered in frost looking beautiful.  I stop to eat my lunch with my colleagues rather than eating at my desk so we can share stories of our weekends.  I walk home with the kids after school and listen to them talk about their day.  It's too easy to miss out on the important things and I don't want life to pass me by in a blur.

And I'm gradually working my way through my list of jobs and finding creative solutions to getting things done.  For example, I've discovered that our dry cleaners can also get my boots re - heeled so I don't have to drag the kids into town.  Happy Days!

Now I need to go and do my food shopping online and see if I can get an invite to my mum's for lunch over the weekend!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year to you all.  Hope your Christmas was a merry one and full of fun and laughter.  I loved the time I spent with my family and the silly games we played.  Sadly, this weekend I will be packing my decorations down and putting them back in the loft for another year.  I hate the way the house looks so bare intially yet I get a strange buzz from having a good clean throughout.

I do love the feeling of a fresh start at the beginning of the year and making my New Year Resolutions - even if they only last for a few months.  This year I have decided it's my year to get more organised.  I'm not totally disorganised but there is so much I want to acheive this year that it will only happen if I'm organised.
One of the areas that needs to improve is getting the kids ready for school.  I'm going to make sure that their things are ready the night before so that I'm not running around in a flap in the morning.  I will also make sure that all their clothes are properly labelled with sewn in labels rather than written in with a pen!!  Hopefully that will put an end to the wrong jumper coming home with the wrong child.
(Not that I have any plans to sew those labels in by myself - I will be passing them onto our seamstress and saving my own fingers!)

I guess that's the thing with being organised - it doesn't mean that I have to do everything myself.  It can actually pay to use services available and to free up my own time to acheive all the other things I have planned for this year.

So if you have any suggestions for how I can organise myself even more then please let me know!

Until next time, don't forget that you can call us anytime on 01622 870111 to arrange a collection of laundry, ironing or dry cleaning.

All the best for 2013!
